Project Forlorn

Let's take it from the top, shall we?  Let me talk about what this film is even about.  I'll try not to go into too much detail about its origins, because I can cover that more specially during later topics.  But I'll cover where the idea came from and what it is now.  This idea came about in two stages, both in very similar ways. Back in 2013 or so I couldn't sleep one night, which isn't as unusual for me as I'd like.  In this instance, I was letting my mind wander.  Then suddenly I had an idea for an adventure story like the shows and movies I had grown up with but don't really see as much anymore - a story about a hero setting out to go somewhere and find something.  I developed this idea for several years, building out its world and writing a story bible.  I even started making it a film at one point.  I got far enough along that I made 4 rigged characters and the environment.  But I got busy with my career and shelved it, though I ...

Welcome to my animation blog.  My name is Alex Keller.  I'm a animator working in TV and film VFX for quite some time now.  Several years ago I came up with a idea that I hoped to turn into a film.  It's gone through a half dozen variations since then, but at the end of the summer of 2018 I was finally able to craft a solid story and had enough money saved up to invest in some actual equipment.  With those things in hand, I began preproduction on what I hope to be a fully realized short film.  From the beginning I had an idea that during this production, which I anticipate taking up to several years, I would have a blog running alongside it to track every single thing I do to get this film off the ground.  I want to showcase all of the challenges I may face and landmarks I will hit, and I hope it will prove useful to other artists looking to make their own films, or just generally entertaining at least.  Basically, I just want to make a truly comp...
